Case Background
Economic development in Georgia, advanced living standard and obsolete vehicles have led to the need of replacing old-fashioned train by new one in order to improve the rail transport services.
Case Summary
Geo & Co. has provided consulting services to CSR since 2008. After the first successful project in Georgia, CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. successfully gained the Second Contract for five EMUs (Electrical Multiple Units) from Georgian Railway Ltd. in the beginning of 2011 through our support. The project was the company’s second successful bid from Georgia after the one in 2007.
Georgia is one of the mature markets that CSR has cultivated elaborately, paid close attention to and followed up intensively. After getting the first EMU order from Georgia in 2007, CSR has signed a service agreement with Geo & Co. that Geo & Co. represents the interests of CSR in Georgia and provides consulting services regarding the Georgian state owned companies’ procurement procedures and government procurement contract audit and revision.
After Georgian Railway Ltd. made a new bid invitation in 2010, CSR and Geo & Co. established a special project team, took active part in the bid, won the bid and launched the project.
The order involves five DC 3KV 130km/h EMUs. It has laid a solid foundation for CSR to consolidate and expand the existing Georgian market and make new achievements in sectors such as large passenger train, motor train and city transit vehicle.
